Plot: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.*

I should be upfront with you...I am not a huge fan of superhero or Marvel movies. In fact, I fell asleep in the last Avenger's movie - please don't hate me, just trying to be honest with you. So now that we have that out of the way, going into this movie, I was actually excited to see it because it was female-centered with a great message. And I am happy to say it did! Marvel took a good look at what DC  Comic did with Wonder Woman and the great female response they got from the movie. The leading character, played by Brie Larson, wasn't dressed in anything sexy or low cut like Black Widow is. She also didn't use her sexuality to get her way. She instead used her wit, strength, and knowledge to get what she needed. And I have to say it is very refreshing to see that and hope that more young girls will see her as a role model.

I do have one major complaint about this movie. Captain Marvel doesn't have any weaknesses. So that really takes away from any tension in the movie. When her powers are in play, there is no stopping her. So you know without a doubt that she is going to win in each and every fight she found herself in. I wish she had one thing she couldn't do or something that was her cryptonight.

The movie overall was amazing and it is mostly because of characters in the movie. Brie Larson, who plays the leading character of Carol or Captain Marvel did a great job transforming herself into the superhero. I actually watched an interview she did on Live with Kelly and Ryan and she mentioned how she even had to learn the superhero stance and it took a while to figure it out. Samuel L. Jackson who plays Brie Larson's partner in the movie did a great job (and looked very young for his age). Since I am not a huge Marvel fan, is he in every movie? Is he the constant in this series?

I love diving deeper into each movie I see and I recently read an interview with Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. They said in the interview that this was their second movie together as co-stars and they want to do more. It shows what great chemistry (not in that way) that they have as co-stars. Does that make Samuel L. Jackson Brie Larson's work husband?

Back to the characters - The other two standout performances for me were Jude Law and Annette Beining. Both characters stood their own with the rest of the star-studded cast AND really added to the movie. Again, I don't know how many more Marvel movies there are slated to come out but are they trying to hit every celebrity in Hollywood? I am waiting for a Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio, or Angelina Jolie movie. I mean Jack Gyllenhaal is in the next Marvel Spiderman movie coming out here soon.

There was one constant character in the movie that really got a reaction from everyone in the theater I saw the movie in. That was the adorable cat! It was constant throughout the movie too. This to me brings up so many questions like how to get a cat in show business, how they got the cat to run with the group in a scene, and how to get a cat to look in the direction of the camera all the time.

I feel like any diehard Marvel fans will get their yearly fulfillment and newcomers should be entertained by this movie. I would recommend it but this movie didn't make me any more of a Marvel fan than before.
