Plot: A wife questions her life choices as she travels to Stockholm with her husband, where he is slated to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature.*
Let's keep this review short and sweet. I added this to my list after Glen Close, who plays the wife in the movie, won the Gloden Globe for Best Actress over Lady Gaga (which made me mad). My goal was to watch this movie before the Oscar's since they were both up for Best Actress. Well, I saw it and still not exactly sure why she won at the Gloden Globes.
The image above perfectly sums up the whole movie - the husband is the center of attention and the wife is just another person in the room. The movie is about this wife that supports her husband all her life. It is all about this man's career, passions, and taking care of him. The wife is in the background and the husband's support. So basically a Leave It To Beaver relationship. I never want to be in a marriage like that but if you are and want that or are currently in it, this movie might be for you.
The only reason Glen Close was nominated at all the award shows this season was for the last 15 minutes of the movie (and the image above shows it). She gets fed up with this life she has been in for the last umpting years and she is leaving her husband. He took away all her dreams and hopes of being a writer of her own because he needed her help. It was a very emotional scene but not Best Actresses worthy in my opinion.
Your life will not be changed by watching this movie. It will just show you what type of relationship you don't want to find yourself in.
