Robin Hood (7 ⭐️)

Robin Hood is about a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander mounting an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.*

Now I like action movies...for the most part (and by most part I mean I fell asleep during Avengers: Civil War movie). But this action movie was goooood. Maybe it's because I haven't seen a good one in a couple months or that it was exactly what I needed after a bad day. But this movie was goooood.

Let's talk about the action sequences for a second because this is what really made the movie shine. One of my favorite scenes was Taron Egerton training with Jamie Foxx to become Robin of Loxley. I can't imagine what it took to set-up and film the sequence - reset and do it all over again. Taron Egerton moved around this abandoned house shooting random targets that popped up all while Jamie Foxx was yelling at him. It was incredible!

This wasn't the only incredible fight or action scene of the movie either. Seriously Taron Egerton was made to be Robin Hood. The way he flew around as the "hooded man" seemed so natural. I wonder how long he had to train with a bow and arrow to make it seem like it was just an extension of himself or was he already good at it?

Okay - I can't talk about this movie without mentioning some of the actors - specifically Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, and Christian Grey...I mean Jamie Dornan. Let's start with Taron Egerton first (because I haven't gushed over him enough). When I first saw the trailer, I was sitting in the movie theater with my best friend and we turned to each other after the trailer was done and both were like "Dammmmnnn! He's hot." We couldn't figure out if it was the accent or what. Okay but he's not just hot (but he is), he is also a really great actor. The humor he brings to his character (not only in this movie but the other characters he has played) is so authentic. He fits the role of Robin Hood perfectly and I can't imagine another actor filling his shoes.

Okay - Christian Grey...I mean Jamie Dornan was another stand-out. The only thing I have seen him in is 50 Shades of Grey. So it was nice to see him play a different character that wasn't so angry and dark all the time. The last stand-out was Jamie Foxx. I haven't seen him in a movie in a while so it was nice to see him on the screen again. He did a great job playing a father with a vendetta.

I know this movie got a lot of 1 and 3-star reviews on IMDb and 14% on Rotten Tomatoes but I think it is worth a watch. The fight scenes were very engaging. I never caught myself daydreaming. The romance was a bit awkward but overall - it was a goooood movie. My only question remains - when is the sequel?
